At Victoria Fabricators our team understands railings.  Specialty and custom railings are something we love to do.

Many people mistake railings for handrails, for example on a staircase. The railing is the form that sits under the handrail as a barrier between the handrail and the floor. The handrail is also known as the banister to some.

Railings can be made out of all sort of materials. Our focus is metal. Popular types of metal that we find used on various projects are:

Aluminum railings – lightweight and great for both indoor and outdoor use. Aluminum is very durable and will withstand harsh outdoor environments. Even though it’s much lighter than steel, it is strong and is easier and faster to install. The aluminum railing compliments some of our most popular aluminum walking bridges that we fabricate in-house.

Galvanized / stainless steel railings – is incredibly strong and great for both indoor and outdoor use. Stainless steel railings can provide a chic look to an interior.

Wrought Iron railings – is a malleable material that can be used for both indoor and outdoor railings. Because it is easier to shape that aluminum or steel, a wrought iron railing can be formed, for example, to follow a curved staircase. It’s highly durable and strong.

The nice thing about each of these metals is that wood and glass can be introduced into the railing on whatever level is desired. These other materials are quite compatible with metal railings.

When it comes down making the decision what kind of railing do you want or need, the options are awesome. We, of course, favor metal as our choice of material.
